The climate at the top of the Blue Mountain peak on the Wallenford Estate is perfect for coffee growing; all our ‘old friends’ are there – rich volcanic soil, forest cover and natural leaf compost. Most importantly is the cover of cloud, created each morning by water being lifted off the sea by the heat, and sent drifting slowly up the side of the mountain. Hey presto! At 4 o’clock it rains on these happy coffee bushes – utter bliss what a wonderful relief from that hot sunshine! BMJ must be a light roast to maintain its natural character.
